manasluscam.com is an independent, non-commercial community project. It is not operated by a registered company. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to ManasluClo, Arc'teryx, Montane, LEKI, or any other brand mentioned on this site.

No brand has paid for, sponsored, or contributed to this site in any way.

This site is operated anonymously for the safety of its contributors, which is permitted under consumer protection and press freedom principles.

2. Privacy Policy

We collect as little data as possible. Here's exactly what happens when you visit this site.

2.1 Data we store locally on your device

We use your browser's localStorage (not cookies) to save:

• Your preferences — polling interval, muted keywords, notification settings, last visit time. Stored under the key manaslu-brand-tracker-settings.
• Chat name — if you use the community chat, your chosen name is saved locally so you don't have to re-enter it. Stored under chat-name.

This data never leaves your browser. You can clear it anytime in your browser settings.

2.2 Community chat

If you post a message in the chat, we store:

• Your message text (max 500 characters)
• Your chosen display name (or "Anon" if blank)
• A timestamp

We also temporarily log your IP address for rate limiting (max 5 messages per minute) to prevent spam. IP addresses are not stored permanently and are not linked to your messages.

Chat messages are stored on Netlify Blobs. Only the last 200 messages are kept. There is no account system, no login, and no way for us to identify you unless you choose to share identifying information in your message.

2.3 Analytics (only with your consent)

We use Google Ads conversion tracking (ID: AW-17973068446) to understand how people find this site. This only loads if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner. If you decline or ignore it, no tracking scripts run.

When enabled, Google may collect:

• Your IP address (anonymized)
• Pages visited
• Referrer URL
• Browser and device type

This data is processed by Google under their Privacy Policy. We have enabled IP anonymization.

2.4 Third-party services

• Google Fonts — loads the Inter typeface. Google may log your IP when the font is requested. Google Fonts privacy info.
• Reddit public API — we fetch public post data (upvotes, comments) from Reddit threads to display engagement metrics. No user data is sent to Reddit.
• Netlify — our hosting provider. Netlify may log IP addresses in server access logs per their Privacy Policy.

2.5 Data we do NOT collect

• Email addresses (we don't have a signup)
• Passwords or accounts
• Payment information
• Location data
• Personal identifiers beyond what you voluntarily enter in chat

2.6 Your rights (GDPR)

If you're in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. Since we don't collect identifiable data beyond chat messages, the most effective way to exercise these rights is:

• Clear your browser's localStorage to remove local data
• Decline the cookie banner to prevent analytics tracking
• If you posted a chat message you want removed, email us at mountaineers@gmail.com

3. Cookie Policy

This site does not set any first-party cookies. We use localStorage instead, which stays on your device and is not sent to our servers.

If you accept analytics tracking, Google Ads may set third-party cookies for conversion tracking and ad personalization. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your cookies and refreshing the page — the consent banner will reappear.
